It was August 17, 1936, when 22-year-old bargee Cees Boerman bought a 5-ton Chevrolet truck with a manual tipping system from Van Mill in Gorinchem for 1900 guilders.
Cees paid fl. 500 in cash and covered the rest with 18 monthly instalments of fl. 86. The money was originally intended for his wedding, which had to be postponed for a year. Cees was determined to get a new truck because it would have lower maintenance costs.
With this purchase, Boerman Transport was born.
