In 1961, the bagged animal feed was transported for the Eerste Coöperatieve Kunstmestfabriek in Vlaardingen. When this needed to be transported in bulk, the first bulk truck was purchased. At the same time, Betondak Arkel required the transport of cement by bulk truck.

In the early days, mainly building materials such as cement, gypsum, lime, and raw materials for animal feed, many of the materials came from abroad, were transported. As a result, bulk transport increasingly became cross-border with destinations in Germany, France, Denmark, Austria, and Italy.
In the initial years, the company used semi-trailers, but due to stricter requirements, tipping trailers were adopted as they could be cleaned more effectively.
Due to various animal diseases and contamination issues worldwide, there was a call for stricter regulations for the transport of animal feed, leading to the creation of GMP-certification. Boerman has been GMP-certified since February 2001.
